A sixpence to add to your Christmas Pudding this Stir-it-up Sunday!

This fabulous tradition dates back to Victorian times (when the sixpences were actually silver; these ones are cupronickel!), when families would gather and each take a turn to stir the pudding batter from East to West and make a wish! The sixpence would then be added before the pudding is matured for the five weeks leading up to Christmas.

When the pudding is finally consumed, whomever is lucky enough to find the sixpence in their portion will have their wish granted! (Allegedly, assuming they haven’t broken a tooth)

Stir-it-up Sunday is the last Sunday before advent.

Our coins date from 1949 to 1967 and you will be sent one at random.
